Martin will hold a New York City news
conference today, Saturday, January 16th, to release details of the upcoming
Ted Cruz Birther Summit/National Conversation. Andy is also releasing the
registration form for persons wishing to attend the conference/conversation.
“We are a nation governed by a Constitution,” Andy says. “Ted Cruz’ candidacy
has opened a great national conversation on the origins and meaning of that Constitution.
I have been dealing with Article II ‘Natural Born Citizen’ issues for over a
decade and I am delighted to host a conversation in the nation’s capital January
29-31. Ironically, although Cruz has attacked ‘liberal Democrats’ as the source
of his eligibility issues, in reality it is Cruz’ own ‘base’ that holds the
most conservative views on the meaning of ‘Natural Born Citizen.’”

(New York January 16, 2016 ) Republican presidential
candidate and constitutional scholar/litigator Andy Martin will hold a New
York news conference today, Saturday, January 16th to
provide details on what is now being billed as the Ted Cruz Birther
Summit/National Conversation. “Anyone who has ever stood in a classroom as I
have knows how difficult it is to motivate people to study constitutional
details,” Andy says. “But the question of the meaning of the term ‘Natural Born
Citizen’ has triggered a great national conversation, so we are now calling our
conference the Ted Cruz Birther Summit /‘National
Conversation’ as well. Senator Cruz has been asked to cooperate and
participate.
“We
are witnessing a politically schizophrenic moment. Cruz is attacking the ‘liberal
national media’ as sources of questions concerning his presidential
eligibility. But, ironically, the liberal national media generally support
Cruz’s point of view that he is eligible. The liberal media take a ‘liberal’
view of constitutional interpretation.
“Rather,
it is conservatives within Cruz’ own base who manifest the most concern about
whether Cruz satisfies the constitutional mandate of being a Natural Born
Citizen. There is a great deal of concern and confusion, but also a great deal
of clarity (please see links below).
“I
have previously raised and addressed all of these issues in the context of
Barack Hussein Obama’s candidacy, and expressed my expert opinions. The recent filing
of what appears to be a frivolous lawsuit against Cruz in a federal court in
Texas creates some urgency that we conduct our ‘summit’ and ‘national
conversation’ and we are on schedule to do so. The conference registration form
accompanies this release.”
